The Al Amana Centre
Muscat, Sultanate of Oman

The Al Amana Centre works internationally for the common good by building bridges
of understanding and cooperation between Muslims and Christians.

In 1893 the Reformed Church in America arrived in Oman and began medical and educational initiatives. These succeeded only because it was a collaborative effort with the people of Oman and those from many other nationalities and faiths who worked side by side to serve the needs of the entire community.

With the modern development of the country, this work came to an end, but a new vision emerged to respond to the challenges of today's world. The Al Amana Centre was created In 1987 by the Reformed Church in partnership with Oman's Ministry of Religious Affairs as a center for interfaith understanding. The Al Amana Centre now works internationally for the common good by building bridges of understanding and cooperation between Muslims and Christians.

The Al Amana Centre's programs result in the discovery of shared values between Islam and Christianity. Educational programs include interfaith tours, study abroad programs hosted in Oman, seminary programs, a visiting scholars program, publications, and annual interfaith conferences.
